Steven Davis moves to Southampton from Rangers

Rangers have confirmed they have accepted a fee from Southampton for Steven Davis and will now agree to his move to St Mary’s. The deal is believed to be worth around £800,000 and will allow the Northern Ireland captain to officially become a Saint.

It appears that Steven Davis and Kyle Lafferty remain registered players of Rangers Football Club. The Scottish Football Association have revealed that they have not granted clearance for the moves that would take Davis and Lafferty to Southampton and FC Sion respectively.

Kyle Lafferty takes bold step to join FC Sion

Northern Ireland’s Kyle Lafferty continued the exodus of first-team players from Rangers by signing for FC Sion last week. The 24 year-old has joined the Swiss Super League club immediately and already started pre-season training ahead of the coming season.

For now, Northern Ireland have stopped their dramatic slide down the FIFA World Rankings and even started the journey up them. Admittedly, it’s only a single place and it happened with no football actually being played but it is cause to celebrate a little. Northern Ireland are now ranked 102nd in world football.
