Stephen Robinson has named a squad of 20 players in his under-21 panel to take on England on Tuesday night. Robinson is guiding the Northern Ireland under-21 team through his final fixture in charge before focusing his efforts on the under-19 and under-17 sides.

Under-21s: Northern Ireland 1-3 Macedonia

A spirited second half performance from Macedonia ended Northern Ireland under-21s’ hopes of qualifying for next year’s European Championships completely. The hosts still had the smallest chance (really very tiny mathematical chance) of gaining an unlikely place in the finals before the game but they were dashed by the visitors on Friday evening. Macedonia came back from a goal down to win comfortably and enhance their own qualification chances along the way.

Under-21s: Macedonia 1-0 Northern Ireland

Stephen Robinson’s first game in charge of the Northern Ireland under-21 squad has ended in defeat at the hands of the former Yugoslav Repulic of Macedonia. A penalty by Yani Urdinov in the 83rd minutes of the game settled matters and with it, effectively Northern Ireland’s slim hopes of qualifying for UEFA European under-21 Football Championships.
